Mission

The Bearcamp Center for Sustainable Community is located on the historic Perkins Farm in South Tamworth, doing good works in the heart of Carroll County, New Hampshire, especially to address food insecurity, out-of-school education programming, and elder initiatives. According to the Institute for Sustainable Communities, "(a) sustainable community takes into account, and addresses, multiple human needs, not just one at the exclusion of all others. It is a place where people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives feel welcome and safe, where every group has a seat at the...table, and where prosperity is shared." We support intellectual, social, and ethical development as integral to solving challenges facing our human and natural ecosystems. We engage in meaningful work, learn by doing, develop an ethic of stewardship, solve real problems, and provide service to others.
