The Families 4 Health Wellness Program: Provided nutritional and fitness services for 150 youth and parents from North Minneapolis and northwest suburbs, with overall goal of curbing generational obesity and related diseases. The focus of Families 4Health is to raise awareness amongst targeted population groups about the risk of improper diet, lack of nutrition in food choices, the rising incidence of obesity among school aged youth, prevention, and the realization that obesity affects all segments of their lives. Partnered with Power of The People Institute to provided 122 middle school boys and girls school day nutrition and fitness workshops at YFDS facility. ** The Youth Leaders of Change College Prep Leadership Program: Provided 120 youth with targeted programs to enhance youth's opportunities to attend college. The program offered integrated programs that include; Personal development workshops and activities: goal & vision setting, life and academic mapping. Entrepreneurial program - Business development workshops and servicing learning projects that include the launching of small business projects and direct College Prep Activities, including ACT /SAT preparation and resources, Personal coaching and strategic guidance, Athletic and Non-Athletic scholarship funding coaching. 70% of the graduating seniors are now attending a post-secondary school. ** The Track Minnesota Athletic Program: Provided 150 youth aged 5 to 18 years of age a platform to get or stay fit while developing their athletic talent into collegiate scholarships. In addition, the integrated college prep program provided parent valuable consultation and resources to navigate the complex process of pursing college entry and scholarships. The track program continues to witness 100% of its participants graduate high school and 90% attend college.** Community Impact and Outreach: YFDS hosted 3 community events: June 4th track and field clinic, June 20 & 21 Health Fair and AAU State championship track meet, June 25 - 28 Regional championship level track meets that attracted over 5,000 attendees. These 3 events provided a platform for vendors and agencies to promoting healthy lifestyles resources and a opportunity for the track athletes to qualify for regional and national track championships.
