Global Development and Exchange - World Learning is a global development and exchange nonprofit that works to create a more sustainable, peaceful, and just world through education, cultural exchange, and development. Through a portfolio of nearly 100 programs with participants representing more than 130 different countries worldwide, we help to equip individuals and institutions with fundamental competencies, 21st-century skills, and intercultural understanding to solve today's most pressing and complex challenges. We work globally to build the capacity of individuals, communities, and institutions to take ownership of their own development, secure just and effective policies, and drive sustainable positive change. Our activities include supporting STEM centers for youth in Algeria; implementing youth leadership programs; digital and in-person cultural exchanges; providing training to teachers; and working to support primary schools in Lebanon to help enhance literacy and numeracy skills. Through our exchange programs for both youth and adults, we aim to foster intercultural understanding and forge connections worldwide. We believe that when people from diverse backgrounds understand each other, they can form vital partnerships that contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable, and peaceful world. At the core of our approach to global development are strong local partnerships and experiential learning methods, grounded in our organization's 90-year history to identify solutions to pressing global and local development challenges in areas such as global education, capacity strengthening, youth workforce development, entrepreneurship, TESOL, civic engagement, and support for refugee resettlement. Locally driven international development projects build the foundations of citizen participation in under-represented communities around the world. By connecting people through experiential learning and opportunities to practice what the organization teaches, World Learning has created a vast global network of students and alumni, faculty, staff, and local partners working together to inspire and lead effective social change. SIT Study Abroad - A pioneer in experiential, field-based study abroad programs, offers accredited academic semester, summer, and custom-term programs for undergraduate students in over 40 countries worldwide, as well as comparative honors programs in multiple locations. Our mission is to prepare students to be inter-culturally effective leaders, professionals, and citizens. In doing so, SIT Study Abroad fosters a worldwide network of individuals and organizations committed to responsible global citizenship. The SIT Study Abroad experience includes rigorous academic programs delivered through a field-based, experiential approach; undergraduate research through Independent Study Project Case Studies; cultural immersion via fieldwork, intensive language classes, and urban and rural homestays with local families. A small group of students in each program is supported by SIT faculty and staff, homestay families, local experts, and community members, and a commitment to reciprocity as the foundation of our educational philosophy.
