Parabens are a class of antimicrobial preservatives used in foods, personal care products and medicines. They are now seen as an environmental contaminant of emerging concern. A study published in 2022 linked the concentrations of parabens with breast tumors, and especially metastatic breast tumors. This project is to find the likely sources of contamination that is resulting in the unnatural accumulation of parabens in women.

The Lahaina wildfire was the most deadly wildfire in recent U.S. history. The burning of Lahaina caused an environmental hazard to the volunteers, workers, and residents who worked/lived in that area. Reports of toxic pathologies with volunteers and residents were communicated directly to HEL from Maui County Councilmembers. We raised funds to acquire and freely provide Personal Protection Equipments including chemical resistant boots, gloves, and chemical respirators. We partnered with the Red Cross of Maui, The Maui Ocean Center, the Friends of Hanauma Bay, and Mercury One.
