Mission

Hospice Honors is a prestigious program recognizing hospices throughout the country that provide the highest levels of care as measured by the caregiver's point of view. 'Hospice Honors' includes hospices scoring above Deyta Analytics national average on 20 of 24 questions on an independent survey sent to all care-givers. Deyta also holds a special recognition, Hospice Honors Elite, to honor hospices scoring above the national average on all 24 (100%) of the evaluation questions. Old Colony Hospice has also been recotgnized as a "Top Place to Work" by the Boston Globe multiple times including 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.. Our physicians and Nurse Practitioners make home, nursing home and hospital visits as needed and our staff have received advanced national certification in their field. Staff are available 24 hours a day to meet the needs of patients and families. In addition, OCH offers complementary services in combination with traditional medical therapies including Reiki, massage, music and specialty programs including We Honor Veterans Level V, Forget-Me-Knot Program for patients suffering from dementia, and certified "Dementia Liv" trainers offering multiple sesiosns in a variety of settings including the home. In 2020, Old Colony Hospice opened The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home. The home offers a comfortable home-like environment and residential care for patients who are seeking alternatives to a hospital, skilled nursing facility or who are unable to manage end of life care at home. The organization offers many special events including the Annual Memorial Walk in honor of loved ones lost and cared for by Old Colony Hospice, the Annual Golf Classic and the Annual Lights of Remembrance Ceremony. An extensive array of community education programs are also offered for members of the community. These presentations are always offered at no cost. Beyond caring for patients and families, the leadership team and staff give back to the community by volunteering, serving on local not-for-profit boards and participating in many community events.
