We do this in three ways: 1) by promoting the many benefits and options of a career in health care; 2) by preparing program participants with knowledge about career and college pathways; and 3) teaching health and science related skills. Recuritment and Retention - Northern Vermont AHEC works to attract and retain adequate numbers of well-trained health professionals to the health care workforce in our region. We do this in three ways: 1) by participating in educational loan repayment programs for health professionals in exchange for service commitments, 2) by supporting community-based and clinical education experiences for health professions students that demonstrate the value and benefits of a rural health care practice and lifestyle, and 3) by participating in an annual survey of of practitioners in our region to determine primary care workforce needs.
