Patriotic Education, veterans awareness issues, charitable service activities: The VFW Post 2498 provides education activities in the community. The post conducts local contests for high school and middle school students (Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen) to speak and write on a patriotic related subject as part of the national VFW program for youth education. The contestants also attend a dinner hosted by post members as recognition and receive awards. The post assists the Town of Needham with annual events organizing and participating in local Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day activities. The post provides support to the town's police and fire department honor guards. The post provides recognition to outstanding teachers in the local schools, law enforcement and first responders.
