The Landstar Scholarship Fund was formed for the purpose of granting college scholarships to the children of business capacity owners with Landstar System, Inc. and /or its subsidiaries. Business capacity owners are not employees of Landstar System, Inc. rather they are small business owners and independent owner operators of sales facilities and equipment serving Landstar. Accordingly, the Landstar Scholarship Fund seeks to foster educational opportunities for the children of the business capacity owners and their employees. The program has since been expanded to include children of employees of the Landstar affiliated companies, and sales agents of Landstar. Sales agents are independent agents and are not employees of Landstar System, Inc. The awards are based on academic merit and/or financial need. A total of nine scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each were awarded during the 2023 academic year to qualified recipients.
