Haiti has been plunged into a catastrophic humanitarian emergency, driven by extreme, territorial armed group violence that has led to a near-total collapse of governance and essential services. This crisis is marked by spiraling food insecurity, the mass displacement of over a million people, widespread loss of employment, the closure of hundreds of schools, and pervasive mental health trauma.As of late 2025, an estimated 6 million Haitians - more than half the population - are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, a significant escalation from the prior year. More than 5.7 million people are currently facing high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or worse). Only a fraction of the country's hospitals remain fully functional, making access to health care increasingly precarious. Despite these unprecedented challenges, The Saint Rock Haiti Foundation (SRHF) has remained steadfast in its commitment to providing critical, life-saving health services, operating two of the few fully functional health care centers in the region: Saint Rock and Macaco. SRHF serves over 100,000 registered patients and, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, continues to offer essential services such as school feeding programs, vaccinations, family planning, and HIV screening and treatment, acting as a vital anchor for the health and well-being of the surrounding community.SRHF began a new MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) project and added a dedicated MEAL officer to manage implementation. MEAL is a structured approach nonprofits use to track their impact, measure success, and continuously improve their programs. All of SRHF's programs will receive extensive review. The first two programs to be evaluated are education and health care. Much of the work began with documenting the data flows and components of each program and establishing clear roles and responsibilities of the staff. The MEAL system will help SRHF remain adaptable, addressing challenges, and improving strategies based on data. All staff members were involved in the project and will be trained in new methods and technology. An additional phase will continue the work in the following year.Medical services remain the most extensive program at SRHF. Due to many hospitals and health centers closing in Haiti, the availability of SRHF's health care services is more critical than ever. The number of registered patients rose from 70,000 to 100,000 patients, a more than 40% increase. Implementation of the MEAL program will help with the significant increase in demand by implementing a new electronic medical record system for our two health centers, replacing paper records. SHRF also trained 57 clinic staff to enhance data collection and utilization in the new MEAL program tools. During this period, SRHF hired a dentist. Through a grant from the Catholic Health Foundation, SRHF launched a school nurse program, the first of its kind in the area, with five nurses providing health services to over 900 students. The program is aimed at addressing minor injuries, illnesses, and mental health concerns in educational settings. Education remains an important aspect of SRHF's integrated approach. SRHF continues to pay the salaries of teachers in five primary schools. Construction was completed at the Chretienne Grace Surabondante (ICGS), and the school is being prepared for 215 students to enter in the Fall of 2025. 30 indirect jobs were created from working on the project, providing jobs to local residents. Tuition assistance was provided to 76 students through university and vocational scholarships, bringing the total beneficiaries to 180. Sixteen students graduated, bringing the program's total graduates to 104.
