IN JUNE 2023 THE USS ORLECK OPENED TO VISITORS AT ITS PERMANENT LOCATION IN DOWNTOWN JACKSONVILLE. SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE TOURED THE SHIP IN ITS FIRST 7 MONTHS OF OPERATIONS. MANY COMMUNITY, BUSINESS, AND CIVIC EVENTS WERE HOSTED INCLUDING EVENTS TO HONOR THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE KOREAN AND VIETNAM WARS. THE FIRST INTERACTIVE EXHIBIT (MOUNT 52) WAS CREATED TO SHOW VISITORS HOW THE USS ORLECK CONDUCTED FIRING MISSIONS DURING THE VIETNAM WAR. THE MUSEUM BEGAN TO DEVELOP A STEAM+H PROGRAM AND WILL OFFER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO VISITORS AND SCHOOL GROUPS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
