South Shore University Hospital is tertiary hospital with the following inpatient services: medical/surgical, intensive and cardiac care unit, OB/GYN with a Level II Perinatal service, pediatrics, medical rehabilitation, brain injury and psychiatry. The Emergency Department is a designated Area Trauma Center and provides the Paramedic First Responder Program to the Town of Islip Residents. In 2023, South Shore University Hospital had 23,013 inpatient discharges, delivered 2,129 babies, provided 82,010 emergency department visits and performed 8,857 ambulatory surgeries, including endoscopies and cardiac catheterizations.
