Dancewave provides access to supportive and empowering dance experiences that center social, emotional and cognitive growth through movement. Developing programs to meet community needs, we use dance as a vehicle for transformation, expression, active citizenship and self reflection. Dancewave fosters a culture where dance is celebrated as a healing and inclusive art form. Some notable celebrations from the past year are as follows:Our community residency program reached over 2000 New Yorkers in over 100 different residencies throughout all five boroughs. The Dancewave Company curriculum includes weekly classes and rehearsals, where dancers work closely with a professional artist to hone their technical skills as well as skills related to collaboration, self expression, and socially engaged dance making. This program engaged with 40 dedicated and passionate young artists in 2024. We have prioritized flexible and tuition free access for all youth programming at the Dancewave Center. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we were able to offer $49,000 in tuition assistance and ensure that students were not denied access to quality dance experiences due to financial barriers. Our rehearsal subsidy program experienced a 30% increase in subsidized hours booked in 2024. Reaching over 800 local artists in the community throughout the year. Our annual Dancewave Through College & Beyond program was a success, providing over 400 high school students and families with essential college and career development support. This program facilitates successful transitions to higher education and careers in the arts through networking events, workshops and panel discussions, college fairs and college auditions.
