FACILITATED BY PROFESSIONAL ARTIST EDUCATORS AND GROUNDED IN G.A.P.S MEDIA ARTS CURRICULUM, UV OFFERS YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP TECHNICAL AND CREATIVE SKILLS AND COLLABORATIVELY CREATE MEDIA THAT ADDRESS CRITICAL SOCIAL ISSUES. AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS MEET 1-2 TIMES PER WEEK ONSITE AND DURING PRODUCTION AT SHOOT LOCATIONS FOR UP TO 4 HOURS PER SESSION. UV CONSISTS OF TWO DISTINCT PROGRAMS1 YOUTH BREAKING BORDERS, AN INTENSIVE, 9 MONTH MEDIA ARTS, POPULAR EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE YOUTH AND 2 SUPAFRIENDS, ANOTHER 9 MONTH MEDIA ARTS AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR LGBTQ YOUTH.

LAST FISCAL YEAR, CMIA LAUNCHED A FELLOWSHIP TRAINING 10 YOUTH, INCLUDING 5 YOUTH MEMBERS FROM PARTNER YOUTH ORGANIZING SITES AND 5 G.A.P.
