MOUNT KISCO CHILD CARE CENTER ("MKCCC") WAS FOUNDED IN 1971 AND IS A NON-PROFIT, NON-SECTARIAN CHILD CARE FACILITY LICENSED FOR OPERATION BY THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, MKCCC HAS WORKED TO PROVIDE SAFE, AFFORDABLE, AND EXCEPTIONAL EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION TO THE CHILDREN OF WORKING FAMILIES IN NORTHERN WESTCHESTER COUNTY. SINCE OPENING, THE CENTER HAS SERVED OVER 7,000 LOCAL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.THE CENTER STRIVES TO MAKE ENROLLMENT IN ITS PROGRAMS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL FAMILIES, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO MEET TUITION. MKCCC MAINTAINS A RICHLY DIVERSE POPULATION THAT TRULY REFLECTS THE MAKEUP OF THE COMMUNITY, WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS UNDERSTANDING, COOPERATION, AND TOLERANCE. WE BELIEVE THIS POLICY HAS LONG-TERM BENEFITS FOR BOTH THE CHILDREN AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. TO MAINTAIN THIS BALANCE, MKCCC PROVIDES THE MAJORITY OF ITS CHILDREN WITH SOME FORM OF FULL OR PARTIAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH ITS SCHOLARSHIP INITIATIVE.THE CENTER SERVED APPROXIMATELY 211 CHILDREN THIS PAST YEAR, RANGING IN AGE FROM 3 MONTHS TO 11 YEARS. OF THE TOTAL SERVED, 45% WERE FEMALE AND 55% WERE MALE. APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE CHILDREN ARE OF MINORITY HERITAGE (26% HISPANIC, 10% ASIAN AMERICAN, 4% AFRICAN AMERICAN, AND 10% BIRACIAL). APPROXIMATELY 21% OF CHILDREN AT THE CENTER ARE IDENTIFIED AS HAVING SPECIAL NEEDS AND ARE RECEIVING SERVICES.
