NDI WAS FOUNDED IN 1976 BY NEW YORK CITY BALLET PRINCIPAL DANCERJACQUES D'AMBOISE IN THE BELIEF THAT THE ARTS HAVE A UNIQUE POWER TOENGAGE ALL CHILDREN AND MOTIVATE THEM TOWARD EXCELLENCE. NDI LEADS THEFIELD OF ARTS EDUCATION WITH A MODEL PROGRAM THAT HAS BEEN STUDIED ANDREPLICATED WORLDWIDE.UNDER THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF ELLEN WEINSTEIN FROM 1996 TO 2021, ANDCURRENTLY UNDER THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF KAY GAYNER, NDI HAS DEVELOPEDA UNIQUE, PROVEN TEACHING METHODOLOGY THAT USES DANCE AND MUSIC TOIMPROVE CHILDREN'S CRITICAL THINKING, DEVELOP THEIR GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE,AND HONE THEIR SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL, COMMUNICATION, AND COLLABORATIONSKILLS.
