Seminars and Signature Events:_NYC-Parents in Action hosts educational events, including our expert-led online seminar series and our signature programs: Parenting Scene and Teen Scene. Parenting Scene, introduced this year, is an open discussion series that brings together parents, educators, and thought leaders to explore best practices for raising and educating children today. Teen Scene, a long-standing tradition held annually for over 30 years, provides parents with candid insights into teen life through a moderated panel of NYC high school students. Topics include academics, stress, social life, mental health, gender identity, and substance use. In addition, we presented five timely, expert-led online seminars to further support and inform parents on a range of development topics from grief to puberty and beyond.

Parent Talk Program: NYC-Parents in Action conducts almost 200 facilitated Parent Talk discussion groups annually in partnership with our participating New York City area educational organizations. These confidential meetings bring parents together to discuss child development, parenting challenges, and issues such as social media, anxiety, and substance use. Volunteer facilitators, trained through an intensive program covering group dynamics, communication skills, and meeting management, lead the sessions. Program funds support facilitator training, materials, scheduling coordination, and outreach to educational partners.
