The White Houses release of the National Standards Strategy for Critical and Emerging Technology, focused on promoting leadership in standards and innovation through R&D investment, increased participation and training in standards development activities, and improved coordination with industry and international players to promote the integrity of the international standards system, set into motion in a series of significant ATIS efforts and events: (1) Particpation at a high-profile White House event for the release of the strategy; (2) Participation on the federal advisory committee Visiting Committee on Advanced Technology, established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, to inform the implementation of the Strategy; and (3) Numerous policy filings in response to the Strategy implementation plans.

ATIS Next G Alliance (NGA) was launched to advance North American mobile technology leadership over the next decade through private sector-led efforts. With a strong emphasis on technology commercialization, the work encompasses the full life cycle of research and development, manufacturing,standardization, and market readiness for 6G and beyond. In April 2023, ATIS particpated in an invitation-only White House event aimed at ensuring the U.S. leads in the development and deployment of 6G wireless technology. The Workshop entitled 6G: Open and Resilient by Design, was held in conjunction with the National Security Council, the National Science Foundation, and included presentations by members of Congress, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and the Federal Communications Commission. ATIS was a central participant at this workshop. ATIS hosted a Capitol Hill event to educate policy makers on the need for immediate action to support 6G leadership. Attendees included congressional staff and representatives from several government agencies, highlighting the importance of government partnering with industry to drive a North American vision for 6G, including the need for Congress to fully fund the research and development programs authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act. The 6G Roadmap for Vertical Industries was developed and released, covering the demand side of the 6G ecosystem. The first of its kind analysis focuses on vertical industries needs for both 5G and 6G.
