LITERACY SOLUTIONS NY, INC. (LSNY) OPERATES ENGLISH LITERACY PROGRAMS FOR ADULT STUDENTS VIA IN-CLASS INSTRUCTION OR SMALL GROUP TUTORING. OUR TEACHERS ARE TRAINED CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS, AND OUR TUTORS ARE TRAINED VOLUNTEERS SUPPORTED BY PROFESSIONAL FACULTY ACTING AS ACADEMIC COORDINATORS. ADDITIONALLY,LSNY PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO STUDENTS WHO NEED RESOURCES, INFORMATION OR DIRECTION TO SOLVE VARIOUS LIFE CHALLENGES. ANOTHER AREA OF SERVICE PROVIDED BY LSNY IS CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION SUPPORT. OUR CITIZENSHIP SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO ELIGIBLE RESIDENTS SEEKING AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP IN WESTCHESTER AND ROCKLAND COUNTIES IN NEW YORK STATE. LSNY ONLY OFFERS IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION AND DOES NOT OFFER HYBRID EDUCATIONAL SERVICES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2025, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED OVER 750 STUDENTS WHO WERE REPORTED TO THE NEW YORK STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT VIA THE NATIONAL REPORTING SYSTEM. ON AVERAGE, STUDENTS RECEIVED 45 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION, AND LSNY MET OR EXCEEDED ALL TARGETS FOR STUDENT PROGRESS AND ACHIEVEMENT SET BY NYS IN THE CONTRACTS HELD BY LSNY. ADDITIONALLY, LSNY HOLDS THE CONTRACT FOR THE HAVERSTRAW LITERACY ZONE WHICH PROVIDES A RANGE OF INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO STUDENTS TO REMOVE BARRIERS TO INSTRUCTION AND EMPLOYMENT. REFERRALS ARE GIVEN TO STUDENTS TO HELP THEM DEAL WITH A VARIETY OF ISSUES, I.E. HOUSING, FOOD, INSECURITY, HEALTH ISSUES INCLUDING SUBSTANCE ABUSE, PARENTING ISSUES, CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION AND OTHER REFERRALS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH BARRIERS TO EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT.
