Mission

The Arc Foundation of Rockland, Inc. was created to ensure that adequate funds are available to support The Arc Rockland's mission: "To empower the people we support to make personal choices and realize their dreams by providing them with resources to participate fully in community life." On an ongoing basis, The Foundation reviews funding proposals for initiatives requested by The Arc Rockland, and are awarded based upon needs and goals that best suit The Arc Rockland's mission. These include public and private grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and in-kind donations. In addition to other responsibilities, members of the Foundation Board of Directors serve as ambassadors to the broader community.

The Arc Foundation of Rockland takes a lead role in promoting, planning, and executing fundraising activities to support The Arc Rockland. This includes three annual events: The Harold Peterson Memorial Golf Classic, Step Up for The Arc Rockland Walk, and A Taste of Rockland. Fundraising initiatives also include multiple campaigns during the year for individual donations, including participation in our Family Friends membership, Giving Tuesday, and End of Year Giving. The Arc Foundation of Rockland also researches grant opportunities from both public and private foundations and strategically writes and submits applications to those with strong alignment. Funds given to The Arc Rockland from The Arc Foundation of Rockland support a variety of key programs and services. Examples include maintenance and repairs to our residential facilities; transportation for the people we support to day habilitation centers, job sites, and volunteer projects; recreational and community-based activities; self-advocacy training; and employment training.
