THE TRANSITION NETWORK (TTN) IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN OVER 50 WHO ARE EXPLORING "WHAT'S NEXT" IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIVES. AT THE END OF 2023, TTN HAD 15 FULLY OPERATING CHAPTERS SERVING JUST UNDER 3,000 MEMBERS. OUR EXTENDED COMMUNITY OF ACTIVE CONTACTS (THOSE RECEIVING OUR COMMUNICATIONS OR ACTIVE IN THE ORGANIZATION AS NON-MEMBERS) EXCEEDED 15,000. TTN IS PART OF THE LARGER "POSITIVE AGING INDUSTRY" COMPRISED OF ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON BABY BOOMERS AS THEY ENTER THE POST-CAREER PHASE OF THEIR LIVES. TTN HAS THREE SETS OF OFFERINGS THAT SUPPORT MEMBERS THROUGH THEIR TRANSITIONS: (1) SMALL GROUPS: TRANSITION PEER GROUPS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, (2) WORKSHOPS AND (3) EVENTS.TTN MEMBERS CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR COMMUNITIES IN MANY WAYS. THEY COORDINATE FUNDRASING ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY CENTER, ISLAND HARVEST, CAREER WARDROBE, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, ATLANTA HOSPITAL HOSPITALITY HOUSE, MANNA AND PHILABUNDANCE. THEY VOLUNTEER TIME TO READ TO AND TUTOR CHILDREN. AT THE FORTUNE SOCIETY, THEY ASSIST MEN AND WOMEN COMING HOME FROM PRISON AND REENTERING SOCIETY. TTN'S CARING COLLABORATIVE IS ACTIVE IN THREE CHAPTERS. IT CONNECTS MEMBERS WHO NEED GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT AS THEY FACE A MEDICAL CHALLENGE, PROVIDES A WAY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MEMBER EXPERIENCES AND OFFERS PRACTICAL PEER SUPPORT FOR TEMPORARY HEALTH CHALLENGES. MEMBERS ACCOMPANY EACH OTHER TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS, SHARE REFERRAL INFORMATION, AND PROVIDE GROCERIES OR PICK UP MEDICATIONS DURING TIMES OF NEED. TTN CONTINUES TO DEVELOP ITS "SIGNATURE WORKSHOPS." THESE WORKSHOPS ARE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN TRANSITION. TTN CURRENTLY HAS TWO SIGNATURE PROGRAMS: (1) OUR "WOMEN IN TRANSITION" WORKSHOP PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT THE NATURE OF TRANSITIONS AND SUPPORTS PARTICIPANTS IN CREATING A PLAN FOR THEIR FUTURES, AND (2) OUR "ON RESILIENCE" WORKSHOP COVERS THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STRENGTHENING RESILIENCE, FOLLOWED BY CONVERSATIONS THAT GO MORE DEEPLY INTO DEVELOPING THESE ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS. THE TRANSITION NETWORK IS AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN THE INDUSTRY OF POSITIVE AGING. IT ENGAGES WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON THIS DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY. TTN'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND BOARD MEMBERS ARE REGULARLY INTERVIEWED AND INVITED TO BE GUEST SPEAKERS ON THE TOPICS OF LIFE TRANSITIONS, AGEISM AND OTHER ISSUES SPECIFICALLY RELEVANT TO WOMEN.
