1. Renovation and Construction of the Lubuto Model American Youth Library and construction of Lubuto's Center for Training and Administration adjacent to the Model Library was carried out throughout the year with funds from two grants from USAID American Schools and Hospitals Abroad ASHA. The completed Lubuto Library at the St. Daniel Comboni center opened in April with a visit from US Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and introduced Lubuto's first Early Learning Center as a space tailor-made to early childhood education programming

Staff of the new Comboni Library were provided training in all aspects of operating a Lubuto Library. Throughout 2023 four Lubuto Libraries Comboni Choma Mthunzi and Nabukuyu provided comprehensive library services to children and teens in the communities they serve in Zambia. These services include daily read-aloud programs and individual readers' advisory film presentations and author talks visual arts drama and music programs mentoring and counselling community outreach and use of computers and computer-based literacy lessons in Zambian languages. These programs were also carried out to a limited extent and the Lubuto Model Library under construction offered in safe outdoor spaces and adjacent school spaces
