THE CENTER CLOSED IN SEPTEMBER 2020. PRIOR TO CLOSURE, THE SAMARITAN-RENSSELAER CHILDREN'S CENTER PROVIDED A DEVELOPMENTALLY ORIENTED CARE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGED EIGHT WEEKS THROUGH KINDERGARTEN. THE GOAL OF SAMARITAN-RENSSELAER CHILDREN'S CENTER WAS TO PROVIDE A PLACE WHERE CHILDREN FEEL FREE TO GROW, EXPLORE AND QUESTION. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE ITS GOAL, THE CENTER PLANNED ITS DAY WITH EACH CHILD'S DEVELOPMENTAL AND COGNITIVE NEEDS IN MIND. SENSORY, INTELLECTUAL AND PHYSICAL STIMULI WERE PROVIDED, ALONG WITH PLENTY OF ROCKING, HUGS, AND HELPING HANDS. THE CENTER WAS LICENSED BY THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, AND HAD ALSO RECEIVED ACCREDITATION FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN.
