THE ARC OF MONROE, A CHAPTER OF NYSARC (THE ARC OF NEW YORK) EXISTS TO MEET A CRITICAL MISSION - TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. FOR OVER 60 YEARS THE ARC OF NEW YORK AND ITS MANY CHAPTERS, INCLUDING THE ARC OF MONROE, HAS BEEN A LEADER IN ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES BUILD A LIFE THAT INCLUDES ACTIVELY LIVING IN THEIR COMMUNITY, PARTICIPATING IN EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, AND CHOOSING THE SERVICES AND SUPPORTS BEST SUITED TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND PREFERENCES. THE AGENCY BEGAN WITH A SMALL GROUP OF FAMILIES ADVOCATING FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND THE ARC OF NEW YORK CONTINUES TO BE ONE OF THE STRONGEST VOICES FOR THE IDD COMMUNITY IN NEW YORK STATE.
