The Haiti Deaf Academy graduated 5 students in July 2024. These students had completed our Life Skills program- showing competency in making food, shampoo, soap, bread and peanut butter for sale. They showed competency in making small financial transactions, gardening, reading and writing basic creole. We admitted 1 four-year-old new student in the fall of 2024. We continued to celebrate our growth through the years from a rescue organization for deaf children, to a thriving cottage based boarding school for deaf children ages 4-18 year olds. In 2024, Haiti had no functioning, elected government and a large part is under gang control. Kidnapping, murder, internal displacement and insecurity are marked. In October of 2024, gangs took over our campus and we were forced to relocate the students to a safer part of the country, where we have managed to resume classes and most of our programs.
