While well established as clinical targets, the lack of molecular probes to the large immunophilins continues to inhibit our ability to evaluate and drug them clinically. This program explores the development of a general platform to discover probes that target specific domains within a neurological protein. Using cyclophilin 40 (Cyp40), FK506-binding proteins FKBP51 and FKBP52, our team seeks to define critically needed reagents to understand the role of the `large immunophilin' family in neurological disease. We began studies on our recently funded R21 program and have reported signficance success within our initial year of funding.The revenue generated will be used for the latter half of the program. A two year award was provided within this funding period.These funds to cover salaries, research supplies, instrument time, and equipment access to complete these studies.
