4B STREAMSWEEPERS - AN AWARD-WINNING, STATEWIDE RIVER RESTORATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ADULTS AND VETERANS. IN 2024, STREAMSWEEPERS CONTINUED WORKING TO RESTORE THE BIODIVERSITY OF THE CLINCH RIVER WHILE PROVIDING MEANINGFUL WORK EXPERIENCE TO RESIDENTS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA. OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, SWEEPERS HAVE REMOVED OVER 9,100 TIRES AND 103 TONS OF TRASH AND DEBRIS FROM OVER 60 MILES OF THE CLINCH RIVER. IN ADDITION, A PILOT PROJECT TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF CLEANING THE TUG FORK RIVER IN WEST VIRGINIA REMOVED 2,500 TIRES FROM THAT RIVERS.
