SOUTHERN CLIMATE RESTORATION SOLUTIONS - DEVELOPS NATURAL SOLUTIONS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL IN THE SOUTHEAST US, WORKING WITH LANDOWNERS AND OTHER PARTNERS TO IDENTIFY UNIQUE LANDSCAPES THAT WITH PROPER MANAGEMENT CAN PROVIDE MEANINGFUL RESTORATION OF THE CARBON, NITROGEN, AND WATER CYCLES OUR WORLD DEPENDS UPON. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES A FEDERALLY FUNDED PROJECT TO BUILD CARBON FARMING MONITORING CAPACITY TO SEQUESTER ATMOSPHERIC CARBON IN SOUTHEAST US AGRICULTURAL SOILS AS WELL AS ONGOING PROJECTS TO DEVELOP REGENERATIVE LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT AND CARBON SEQUESTRATION METHODOLOGIES FOR USE UNDER SOLAR ARRAYS AND A RESEARCH PROJECT TO DEVELOP MARKET DEMAND FOR APPALACHIAN FORESTLAND ASSETS FOR BIOFUEL AND TO BUILD A SUSTAINABLE FUEL FACILITY.

4B STREAMSWEEPERS - AN AWARD-WINNING, STATEWIDE RIVER RESTORATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ADULTS AND VETERANS. IN 2024, STREAMSWEEPERS CONTINUED WORKING TO RESTORE THE BIODIVERSITY OF THE CLINCH RIVER WHILE PROVIDING MEANINGFUL WORK EXPERIENCE TO RESIDENTS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA. OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, SWEEPERS HAVE REMOVED OVER 9,100 TIRES AND 103 TONS OF TRASH AND DEBRIS FROM OVER 60 MILES OF THE CLINCH RIVER. IN ADDITION, A PILOT PROJECT TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF CLEANING THE TUG FORK RIVER IN WEST VIRGINIA REMOVED 2,500 TIRES FROM THAT RIVERS.
