FHAMC/WHT Sculputre and Park Project: On March 23, 2024 after 7 years of working toward our goal, FHAMC donated Sowing the Seeds of the Future an historic bronze sculputure, to the Town of Franklin as public art. This sculputure which serves as the trailhead for the WHT Walking Trail depicts three women - Na-Ka Rebeccas Morris (a Cherokee woman) Salley (an enslaved woman) and Harret Tiomozena Siler Sloan (a pioneer woman) that all had a conection to the land near the river where the sculpture is placed. The Womens History Trail Walking Trail, Scholarship, Matriarch and other events: The Trail celebrate the livess of local historical women along a self-guided walking trail (currently 20 sites). By providing activities and educational events, we strive to share stories about important women who helped shape Macon Countys history. We continue to recognize living elderly women in the area as a WHT Macon Matriarch each March to acknowledge their accomplishments during Womens History Month. In May, our group gives a scholarship to a high school senior to help prepare for a bright future. Our connection to uplift women in the past, present and future is an important element of the Womens History Trail.

FHAMC Heritage Projects: Throughout this year, FHAMC provides skill demonstrations and hands on activities for students in various settings, i.e. Macon County Fair, 4th Grade Heritage Day, Cowee Christmas, etc. Our focus is not a building but instead we focus on programs and projects to enhance education while giving the community opportunities to participate in heritage related themes. As a co sponser of 4th Grade Heritage Day, our organization works with other like minded groups to provide hertiage activites such as : quiliting, square dancing, pottery, Native American booth, primitive arts, crafts, music etc. in order to give students hands-on activities that highlight the heritage of our area. Our board members are volunteers also host demonstrations at Cowee Christmas.
