ESTABLISHED IN 2006, THE ARH FOUNDATION FOR HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES WAS CREATED TO ADDRESS PERSISTENT HEALTH DISPARITIES IN EASTERN KENTUCKY AND SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA THROUGH ITS MISSION TO FURTHER HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. SERVING A LARGELY RURAL REGION, THE ARH FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN RESPONSE TO THE GROWING HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF COMMUNITIES THAT CONSISTENTLY FALL BELOW THE NATIONAL AVERAGE IN KEY HEALTH INDICATORS.DURING FY25, THE ARH FOUNDATION RAISED, STEWARDED, AND DISTRIBUTED CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITIES, EMPLOYEES, AND MISSION-ALIGNED PARTNERS ACROSS THE REGION. PHILANTHROPIC RESOURCES WERE ALLOCATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH DONOR'S INTENT TO ADDRESS URGENT NEEDS AND SUPPORT COMMUNITY HEALTH PRIORITIES.AS A CHARITABLE, TAX-EXEMPT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION, THE ARH FOUNDATION PROVIDES DONORS WITH A MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITY TO DIRECTLY INVEST IN THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF DONORS AND THE OPERATIONAL SUPPORT OF APPALACHIAN REGIONAL HEALTHCARE, CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE USED TO SUPPORT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES BENEFITING INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE ARH SERVICE AREA.THE ARH FOUNDATION MANAGED A PORTFOLIO OF DESIGNATED FUNDS, INCLUDING THE UNRESTRICTED FUND, THE ARH EMPLOYEE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND, THE FLOOD RELIEF FUND, AND THE DUANNE THOMPSON MEMORIAL COMMUNITY SERVICE FUND. THROUGH THE ARH EMPLOYEE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND, THE ARH FOUNDATION PROVIDED SHORT-TERM FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO EMPLOYEES EXPERIENCING DOCUMENTED TEMPORARY FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS. THE FLOOD RELIEF FUND SUPPORTED CHARITABLE RELIEF EFFORTS IN COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY DEVASTATING FLOODING.THE ARH FOUNDATION AWARDED COMMUNITY GRANTS TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES RELATED TO HEALTH, EDUCATION, FOOD SECURITY, AND HUMAN SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE ARH SERVICE REGION. THESE GRANTS SUPPORTED LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY WELLBEING.THROUGHOUT FY25, THE ARH FOUNDATION REMAINED COMMITTED TO TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP OF CHARITABLE RESOURCES.
