COMMUNITY HEALTH: CCUIH leads collaborative, community-driven health organizing efforts to expand access to high-quality, culturally responsive care for Urban Indian communities across California. Working closely with Urban Indian Organization (UIO) leadership and grassroots, community-guided efforts, CCUIH advances policy solutions and addresses health inequities impacting American Indian and Alaska Native people living in urban areas.CCUIH focuses on strengthening the capacity and effectiveness of the Urban Indian health network and includes all ten (10) Urban Indian Organizations in California. CCUIH has implemented successful community programming and public health campaigns that are culturally grounded and community-informed.Most recently, CCUIH co-hosted a successful inaugural Harm Reduction Summit, bringing together providers, community members, and public health partners to advance culturally responsive harm reduction, overdose prevention, and stigma reduction efforts statewide.

POLICY ADVOCACY: CCUIH is a statewide resource for Urban Indian health data, policy, and advocacy and a trusted partner to Urban Indian Organization leadership in advancing policy and systems change. CCUIH actively monitors, analyzes, and responds to local, state, and federal health policy to ensure Urban Indian communities are included in planning efforts that expand access to care and reduce health disparities. CCUIH engages in Indian consultation processes, provides testimony and written input, and advances policy priorities that strengthen Urban Indian health funding, systems, and services. CCUIH produces and distributes policy briefs, position statements, and action alerts on key Urban Indian issues and mobilizes partners to engage in coordinated advocacy. CCUIH also builds strong partnerships with regional, state, and national organizations including the California Primary Care Association, National Council of Urban Indian Health, California Rural Indian Health Board, and the Urban Indian Health Institute to amplify Urban Indian voices and drive collective policy impact.
