The purpose of the Organization is to work with the farmers and citizens of the State of New York and local, state and federal officials, agencies, authorities and commissions and other agricultural and conservation organizations to achieve the public objectives of conserving and protecting New York's agricultural land for the production of food and other agricultural products; encourage the active use and improvement of agricultural land to support the business of farming; and protect forested land and other natural resources that are an important part of New York's agricultural land base. During the year, the Organization obtained 12 new easements covering 2,038 acres of land. This program is funded by government grants and contributions.
