BATTLE MOUNTAIN HUMANE SOCIETY REBUILT AFTER THE FIRE IN 2011 WITH A MUCH LARGER FACILITY WHICH IS A 30X90 KENNEL AREA FOR THE DOGS ALONG WITH A 40X42 OFFICE AREA WHICH WILL HAVE SPACE FOR A GROOMING AREA ALONG WITH A VET ROOM TO HELP CARE FOR THE ANIMALS UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR FOREVER HOME. WE HAVE ADDED MORE FENCING TO ACCOMODATE FOR THE DOGS ON THE 8 1/2 ACRES OF LAND. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A CAT SHELTER LOCATED ON THE SAME PROPERTY AT 27254 WIND CAVE RD WHICH WILL BE 36X48 ALLOWING THE CATS TO BE CONTAINED IN ROOMS AND NOT CAGES. WE ALSO HAVE A SECOND CAT FACILITY LOCATED AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. BMHS ALSO HAS DONE SOME LANDSCAPING TO TRY AND KEEP RAIN AWAY FROM THE BUILDING. IN 2012 WE ADOPTED A TOTAL OF 110 ANIMALS TO FOREVER HOMES. WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY SAVED TWO DOGS WITH CANCER. THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF DOGS AND CATS TEND TO BE AROUND 65 FOR THE YEAR.
