MAPLE GROVE HOSPITAL'S MISSION IS EMPOWERING ITS CUSTOMERS TO ACHIEVE THEIR BEST HEALTH.IN ADDITION TO CHARITY AND UNCOMPENSATED CARE, MAPLE GROVE HOSPITAL ALSO PROVIDES NUMEROUS COMMUNITY BENEFITS (AT NO COST OR BELOW COST) IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS CHARITABLE PURPOSE INCLUDING HEALTH RELATED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: SAFETY FAIRS, CAR SEAT CLINICS, MENTAL HEALTH AND FIRST AID CLASSES, AND ASTHMA EDUCATION IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. MAPLE GROVE HOSPITAL PROVIDES MEDICAL CARE WITHOUT CHARGE OR AT REDUCED COSTS TO RESIDENTS OF ITS COMMUNITY PRIMARILY THROUGH (A) THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC PROGRAM PAYMENTS (PRIMARILY MEDICARE AND MEDICAID) AND THE RELATED COSTS OF PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES, AND (B) SERVICES PROVIDED TO PATIENTS EXPRESSING A WILLINGNESS TO PAY BUT WHO ARE DETERMINED UNABLE TO PAY BECAUSE OF ECONOMIC FACTORS. IN ADDITION, MAPLE GROVE HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTES TO FUNDING MEDICAL CARE FOR THE UNINSURED THROUGH PAYMENT OF PATIENT SERVICES TAXES, WHICH INCLUDE THE MEDICAID SURCHARGE AND THE MINNESOTA CARE TAX ON CERTAIN NET REVENUE.
