In the Foundations ongoing effort to seek preservation and beautification of the historic Union Baptist Cemetery, one of the Oldest African-American Cemeteries in the United States, the Union Foundation was awarded a Preservation Grant by the United States National Park Service. The grant for $400,000 dollars will go toward approved preservation of cemetery grounds and facilities projects. The use, release and schedule for the distribution of the Grant's dollars are subject to advanced approval by the National Park Service over a predetermined period. This year 2023 marked the beginning of the Preservation work and thus the draw down and release of grant funds by the US National Park Service to fund the project. As a result significant progress was made in achieving project goals.
