HAN SERVED AS AN EFFECTIVE ADVOCATE AND RESOURCE FOR HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE PROVIDERS THROUGH DIRECT ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING OF THE WHITE HOUSE, HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID, FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION, OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET, AND CONGRESS, HAN AMPLIFIED THE VOICE OF HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE PROVIDERS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HAN SUCCESSFULLY ADVOCATED FOR ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INTEGRITY AND OVERSIGHT OVER THE HOSPICE BENEFIT TARGETED AT NEW FRAUDULENT PROVIDERS IN CALIFORNIA, TEXAS, NEVADA, AND ARIZONA. AS A RESULT, CMS MOVED FORWARD WITH 17 OF OUR 34 PROGRAM INTEGRITY RECOMMENDATIONS. HAN LED THE HOSPICE COMMUNITY IN PUSHING BACK AGAINST A FLAWED SPECIAL FOCUS PROGRAM WHICH COULD RESULT IN SEVERE BENEFICIARY HARM. HAN CONTINUED TO ADVOCATE FOR TELEHEALTH FLEXIBILITIES, ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR PALLIATIVE CARE, CONCURRENT CARE, EXPANDED ACCESS TO THE HOSPICE BENEFIT, AND OPPOSITION TO BENEFIT CUTS. HAN CONTINUED TO GROW OUR FLY-IN TO ADVOCATE FOR HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE ON CAPITOL HILL SURPASSING OUR ATTENDANCE AND REACH FROM 2022. WE INTRODUCED OURSELVES AND HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE TO ALL FRESHMEN MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. IN SUPPORT OF NHPCO RESEARCH, THE VALUE OF HOSPICE STUDY, WE HELD A BRIEFING ON CAPITOL HILL WITH EXPERTS AND HOSPICE LEADERS.
