Healthy Living - The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is a leading voice within our community, committed to improving the health and well-being of those we serve, with a mission centered on balance and developing connection with individuals and families. As a result, over 9,300 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. We provide resources to children, adults and families by developing small communities of support within various areas of our Y. Our health enhancement programs are designed to help people develop new skills through active lifestyle, proper nutrition, stress management and health education aimed at empowering individuals to choose healthier options. This is especially important as our nation struggles with chronic disease and obesity challenges, families wrestle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programming supports mental health, cancer survivors, individuals with pre-diabetes as well as diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and we continue to develop programming to meet the changing needs within our community. We are dedicated to expanding the Y's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards and strategies into all areas of our Y Community. We are committed to serving the under-served and developing partnerships to help support those needs. Our programs are accessible, affordable and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels.
