PPI PARTNERED WITH THE NYS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL ON A COMPETITIVENESS PROJECT. THE GOAL OF THE PROJECT IS TO MAKE NEW YORK MORE AFFORDABLE, REVERSE OUTMIGRATION, AND SUPPORT ECONOMIC GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY. AN ECONOMIST WAS HIRED TO PUT TOGETHER THE DATA AND ASSEMBLE RECOMMENDATIONS, WITH INPUT FROM STAKEHOLDERS, PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS (CHAMBERS, IDAS, TRADE ASSOCIATIONS) AND SELECTED INVESTORS. SIGNIFICANT FUNDRAISING WAS DONE TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT AND THE MARKETING OF FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS.

PPI RECRUITES EMPLOYER PARTNERS AND PROVIDES TECHNICAL SUPPORT, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING AND MENTORING TO THE PLANNING AND STEERING COMMITTEE FOR THE 59 P-TECH 9-14 SCHOOLS IN NEW YORK. THESE SCHOOLS ARE IMPLEMENTING AN INNOVATIVE MODEL TO PREPARE TEENAGERS TO COMPLETE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS, AN AAS DEGREE AND WORKPLACE PREPARATION FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL JOB INTO A MIDDLE CLASS CAREER. THE SCHOOLS ARE PARTNERED WITH 41 COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, LOCATED IN 9 OF THE 10 ECONOMIC REGIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, AND SERVE OVER 7,500 STUDENTS.
