The mission of the Physician Assistant Academy of Vermont is to promote quality, cost-effective, and accessible health care to the people of Vermont and to support the professional growth of Physician Assistants. PAAV forges and maintains partnerships/working relationships with other health professional organizations on a national, regional and statewide level. With the support of membership dues, PAAV represents Vermont Physician Assistants on issues of legislative, regulatory and professional relevance around the state of Vermont and actively works to improve the professional and regulatory environment for Physician Assistant practice in Vermont and nationwide. In addition, PAAV monitors the reimbursement environment in the state and nationally.

PAAV offers a scholarship known as the Devlin award to a currently enrolled Physician Assistant student from Vermont. Martin Devlin was a beloved member of the Physician Assistant Academy of Vermont (PAAV) for many years. Following his untimely death in 2003, a special fund was created in his memory. No scholarship was given in 2022.
