WBNA programs and initiatives support and promote the neighborhood as a sustainable place for our diverse population to shop, work, eat, live and learn locally. Working with neighbors, businesses, elected officials and other local nonprofits, these include vaccination and flu shot clinics, tree-planting and community gardening, neighborhood cleanups, a solar leasing program, events to encourage connection and dialogue between neighbors and elected officials, engagement with local schools, a charging station for electric vehicles, and creating spaces for small businesses to thrive. Partnering with local organizations, we support work that serves the most vulnerable members of our community. Through our popular Live Local, Give Local campaign, we contribute tangible assistance in the form of grocery gift cards to food insecure neighbors during November and December, as well as toy gift cards at Christmas. In 2023 we distributed 174 cards to local schools (Asa Messer Elementary, West Broadway Middle School, Central and Classical High Schools, and the Providence Career and Technical Academy) and two community centers for families in need. WBNA's two rental properties, at 1192 and 1577 Westminster Street, rented at below market value, are examples of our mission to keep low income families in the neighborhood and to encourage and promote emerging small businesses. Our tenants include a low income family, a nonprofit, and two small, minority-owned businesses that also benefit from WBNA's extensive communications network and connections to local government
