OUR NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS (NHN) PROGRAM CAREFULLY RECRUITS, TRAINS AND MATCHES VOLUNTEERS WITH HOMEBOUND SENIORS AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO AGE WITH DIGNITY IN THEIR OWN HOMES FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY WORKING IN COOPERATION WITH THE LOCAL CONGREGATIONS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER MERCER COUNTY AREA. IN ADDITION, THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH AMERICORPS SENIORS, OUR PROGRAM ENABLES OUR VOLUNTEERS TO GAIN THE BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING: PRIDE IN COMMUNITY, SOCIAL INTERACTION ,AND A SENSE OF BELONGING. ALL OF OUR SERVICES ARE NON-MEDICAL AND PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE. IN 2024, THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED 13,479 HOURS OF TIME FROM VOLUNTEERS PROVIDING CAREGIVING AND WELLNESS SERVICES, WITH AN ESTIMATED INKIND VALUE OF $508,301.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT BENEFIT OF THE PROGRAM IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT OF ITS PARTICIPANTS.
