The Society supports a network of 300 volunteer Prison Monitors who go behind prison walls to bear witness and advocate for humanity and dignity. Every month, Society volunteers respond to more than 250 requests from incarerated people and their families seeking help with issues they face inside prison.

This ignorance is not willful, but rather due to limited access to the experiences of those behind prison walls. Therefore, the Society drives important conversation on prison conditions and frames the debate on overincarceration. Where laws are flawed or outrageous, the Society fights to change them.
