Offering Assistance to Victims of Crime - Reducing fear of crime, meeting emotional and social needs of victims and witnesses, providing support to the community, increasing level of cooperation of community groups with each other and with city/social agencies in addressing the problems of safety, increasing cooperation with law enforcement officials and increasing their awareness of community concerns in order to foster a better relationship between the community and law enforcement officials. (See Schedule O for additional details) . NVS provided services annually to approximately 1,880 crime victims from the 5th, 14th, 35th and 39th police districts of Philadelphia. Additional services provided to these victims include supportive counseling and information and referral. In addition to providing services to crime victims, NVS provides community programs to increase safety and knowledge of NVSs services. NVS also works closely with local and citywide community groups and agencies such as the District Attorneys Office and played an active role in the Philadelphia Coalition for Victim Advocacy and several state and local community task forces. .
