THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF SCRANTON INC PROVIDES HOUSING AND PROGRAMMING FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN BEING TREATED AT AREA MEDICAL CENTERS, ALL COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A BED AND BREAKFAST STYLE HOUSE IN SCRANTON PA, WITH ALL THE AMENITIES OF HOME AND 24 HOUR ON SITE MANAGEMENT. FAMILIES HAVE ACCESS TO LARGE RECREATIONAL AREAS, TELEVISION, CABLE SERVICE, INTERNET ACCESS, PHONE SERVICE, A FULLY STOCKED KITCHEN, LAUNDRY AREA, PRIVATE ROOMS, AND TRANSPORTATION. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OPERATES TWO RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOMS IN TWO AREA HOSPITALS, BRINGING THE COMFORT OF THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE INTO THE HOSPITAL JUST FOOTSTEPS FROM A CHILD PATIENTS BEDSIDE. IN ADDITION, WE OPERATE THREE PATIENT VISITATION PROGRAMS IN THREE AREA HOSPITALS, PROVIDING PERSONAL SUPPORT, COMFORT, AND CARE TO FAMILIES RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED MOST. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF SCRANTON ENSURES THAT EVERY FAMILY WHO NEEDS ESSENTIAL SERVICES RECEIVES THEM. WHEN OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS AT THE HOUSE ARE NOT POSSIBLE, FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED WITH SAFE,COMFORTABLE LODGING IN AREA HOTELS AT NO COST. TRANSPORTATION AND NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED YEAR ROUND WITHOUT INTERRUPTION. IN ADDITION, EVERY MOTHER WITH A CHILD IN OUR REGIONS NEONATAL UNITS RECEIVES SUPPORT THROUGH OUR HOSPITALITY BAG PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES ITEMS FOR THEIR CHILD, GIFT CARDS, AND FOOD SUPPLIES, WITH CONTINUED RE STOCKING AS NEEDED. WE ARE HONORED TO PROVIDE THESE NECESSARY SERVICES TO FAMILIES WHO HAVE CHILDREN RECEIVING CRITICAL CARE IN OUR REGION.
