OLIVET BLUE MOUNTAIN CAMP OFFERS DAY CAMP EXPERIENCES TO NEARLY 900 INDIVIDUAL CAMPERS THROUGHOUT A 9-WEEK SUMMER CAMP. CAMPERS ARE PRIMARILY LOW-INCOME YOUTH BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6 AND 14, MOST OF WHOM ARE YEAR-ROUND MEMBERS OF OLIVET BOYS & GIRLS CLUB. THESE CHILDREN, MANY OF WHOM HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF CAMP SETTING, WERE ABLE TO EXPAND THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH FISHING, HIKING, SWIMMING, ARCHERY, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, AND OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. BLUE MOUNTAIN CAMP PROVIDES A WEEKLY RETREAT FROM THE TENSION AND CHALLENGES OF LIVING IN ONE OF THE POOREST CITIES IN AMERICA.
