IN 2023, PEOPLE'S COMMUNITY CLINIC ADDRESSED THE NEED TO RELOCATE ITS PRENATAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES, INCLUDING HEALTH EDUCATION, PRENATAL AND POST-PARTUM CARE, ON-SITE LAB TESTS, CLASS D PHARMACY AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COUNSELING, DUE TO EXPANSION OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 35. THE HIGHWAY EXPANSION WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF HALF THE PARKING AT THE CLINIC'S CENTER FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH THROUGH EMINENT DOMAIN. IN 2023, PEOPLE'S SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED A FAVORABLE LEASE WITH A NEIGHBORING HOSPITAL AND ANTICIPATES MOVING PERSONNEL TO THE HOSPITAL CAMPUS SITE IN MID-2025. THE WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICE LINE EXPANSION WILL INCREASE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY WOMEN'S HEALTH CARE FOR UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED CENTRAL TEXANS AND ENHANCE CONTINUITY OF CARE. IN 2023, PEOPLE'S CENTER FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVED MORE THAN 5,000 PATIENTS, INCLUDING MORE THAN 2,050 PRENATAL PATIENTS. IN 2023, PEOPLE'S BROUGHT ON A NEW REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICE GIVING PATIENTS THE OPTION OF HAVING A TUBAL LIGATION. THIS PROGRAM HELPS PATIENTS ACCESS TUBAL LIGATIONS AT AN AFFORDABLE COST, WHICH ARE TYPICALLY VERY EXPENSIVE AND COST PROHIBITIVE FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE CLINIC'S PATIENT POPULATION. PEOPLE'S STAFF REALIZED THE PROGRAM THROUGH EXTENSIVE COLLABORATIVE WORK WITH THE LOCAL HEALTHCARE DISTRICT (CENTRAL HEALTH) AND ST. DAVID'S HEALTHCARE. FURTHER, THIS PROGRAM PAVED THE WAY TO EXPAND ACCESS TO OTHER GYNECOLOGICAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES (E.G. CYST REMOVAL) FOR PATIENTS, AROUND WHICH PATIENTS WOULD OTHERWISE FACE SUBSTANTIAL BARRIERS AND CHALLENGES LIKE MUTLIPLE EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS, LONG WAIT PERIODS, AND COMPLEX REFERRAL PROCESSES.
