GRANTS - UNITED WAY INVESTS FUNDS IN PROGRAMS FOCUSING ON EDUCATION, FINANCIAL SECURITY AND HEALTH THAT ARE IDENTIFIED IN MARTIN COUNTY. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DETERMINES ANNUAL FUNDING PRIORITIES AND FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR DISTRIBUTION. ANY AGENCY THAT SERVES THE RESIDENTS OF MARTIN COUNTY THAT IS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION AND ANY QUALIFYING PUBLIC ENTITIES ARE ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT GRANT REQUESTS FOR FUNDING CONSIDERATION. FOR THE REPORTING YEAR, APPLICATIONS WERE REVIEWED BY A DIVERSE GROUP OF 37 LOCAL VOLUNTEERS DONATING 339 HOURS OF TIME TO THE CITIZEN GRANT REVIEW PROCESS. THE VOLUNTEERS EVALUATED GRANT REQUESTS, DID A SITE TOUR AND THEN MADE A RECOMMENDATION BASED ON HOW THE PROGRAM MET SPECIFIC OUTCOME OBJECTIVES AND OPERATED IN A COST EFFECTIVE MANNER. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVED FUNDING TO 38 EXTERNAL PROGRAMS.
