ALASKAN SCOTTISH HIGHLAND GAMES - ON JUNE 29-30, 2024 THE ALASKAN SCOTTISH HOSTED THE ANNUAL HIGHLAND GAMES AT THE ALASKA STATE FAIRGROUNDS IN PALMER AK. THIS CULTURAL EVENT CELEBRATED SCOTTISH THROUGH TRADITIONAL ATHLETIC COMPETITIONS, INCLUDING CABOR TOSS, STONE PUT AND HAMMER THROW, AS WELL AS SCOTTISH MUSIC, HIGHLAND DANCING AND PIPING. THE GAMES WELCOMED APPROXIMATELY 12,000 ATTENDEES, ATHLETES, VENDORS, AND PERFORMERS, PROVIDING A FAMILY FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT, THIS CULTIVATED CULTURAL EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT SUPPORTED THE CLUB'S MISSION BY PROVIDING YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS.

PARTICIPANTS ENJOYED A FULL ROUND OF GOLF WHILE WEARING TARTAN TO CELEBRATE SCOTTISH TRADITION IN A FUN AND ENGAGING WAT. BURNS NIGHT - ON JANUARY 27, 2024 THE ALASKAN SCOTTISH CLUB HOSTED ITS ANNUAL BURNS NIGHT CELEBRATION IN ANCHORAGE AK. THE EVENT HONORS THE LIFE AND WORKS OF SCOTTISH POET ROBERT BURNS AND PROMOTES SCOTTISH HERITAGE IN THE COMMUNITY. THE EVENING INCLUDED TRADITIONAL ELEMENTS SUCH AS THE PIPING IN OF THE HAGGIS, RECITATION OF BURNS POETRY, TOASTS , SCOTTISH MUSIC AND DANCING. APPROXIMATELY 110 MEMBERS AND GUESTS ATTENDED REPRESENTING A DIVERSECROSS SECTION OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THE EVENT PROVIDED CULTURAL EDUCATION, FELLOWSHIP, AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESERVE AND CELEBRATE SCOTTISH TRADITIONS IN ALASKA.
