The Annual Meeting between the Society for Mathematical Biology was again held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The annual conference provides an opportunity for mathematical and biological scientists to interact in a congenial atmosphere. From June 13-17, 2021, an around the clock meeting (24 hours a day) was held to allow participation from individuals all over the world. The meeting was virtually attended by over 2500 participants, including Society members and students. This makes the meeting, by far, the largest in the history of the Society. Speakers came from 47 different countries. There were 12 plenary talks, 744 mini-symposium talks, 275 contributed talk, and 196 posters. The European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology and teh Korean Society for Industrial and Applied Math co-sponsored the event, and teh host institution was the University of California at Riverside.

The Society publishes a highly regarded scientific journal, "The Bulletin of Mathematical Biology". There are 12 issues each year available both online and in paper editions. The Society pays the publisher for subscriptions for all members. The publisher remits royalty payments to the Society based on the income generated from the Bulletin. These royalty payments provide the Society with funds used to provide travel support for students participating in the Society's annual conference and other Mathematical Biology related meetings. The Society also uses some funds to provide honoraria to plenary speakers at the annual conference and support conference travel of its officers, board members, and presenters.

In a regular non-pandemic year, the Society provides financial support to members to attend numerous Mathematical Biology oriented conferences both within the United States and internationally. The Society has an International Grants Program designed to promote and facilitate the organization of and attendance at mathematical biology meetings and courses in countries experiencing financial need. Due to this pandemic, this year society administered no grants, but did give out a large number of prizes for talks, posters and social media presence at its annual meeting. The Society also administered one Education & Outreach Grant to Dr. Renee Dale at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, MO. The project was entitled "Educational Video Game Integrates Concepts in Plant and Mathematical Biology for High School Students".
