NEW DAY IS THE ONLY NONPROFIT IN MICHIGAN PROVIDING BOTH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TO FAMILIES NAVIGATING ANY TYPE OF CANCER, ANYWHERE IN THE STATE. NEW DAY WORKS WITH SOCIAL WORKERS, FINANCIAL NAVIGATORS AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS IN 120 HOSPITALS AND CANCER CENTERS ACROSS MICHIGAN TO REACH FAMILIES IMPACTED BY THE RISING MEDICAL EXPENSES AND A LOSS OF INCOME THAT A CANCER DIAGNOSIS CAN BRING. FINANCIAL TOXICITY IS A HARMFUL SIDE EFFECT THAT CREATES SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS TO TREATMENT AND HEALING. THROUGH FINANCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, NEW DAY KEEPS CANCER FAMILIES IN THEIR HOMES AND ALLOWS THEM TO FOCUS ON HEALING AND WELLNESS INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT COVERING EVERYDAY LIVING EXPENSES. EACH YEAR, NEW DAY ENSURES THAT HUNDREDS OF MICHIGAN FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST INCOME DUE TO A CANCER DIAGNOSIS CAN AFFORD TO MEET THEIR BASIC NEEDS, INCLUDING HOUSING, UTILITIES, FOOD AND TRANSPORTATION, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TO CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. IN 2024, NEARLY 80% OF NDFF FAMILIES MAINTAINED MEDICAL COMPLIANCE AS A RESULT OF NEW DAY'S SUPPORT.
