In FYE23, Southern Coos Health Foundation supported several areas of the Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center. The SCH Foundation donated funds to promote continuing education among our nursing staff, sending staff nurses to Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support trainings. SCHF supported ongoing education toward healthcare-related degrees via educational scholarships to staff and community members. The foundation supported community health by raising funds for the annual hospital flu clinic, a free event to the public. We hosted the 20th annual Womens Health Day, which attracted over 125 attendees. SCHF continued the practice of not charging admission to the event to make the education available to as many as possible. The foundation also supported low-income and under-insured women in the community by offering free mammograms to ten women over the course of the year; additionally, SCHF subsidized free prostate cancer antigen (PSA) tests for men. Southern Coos Health Foundation also supports the Bandon School District School Nurse program, in collaboration with the Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center and the Bandon School District. The School Nurse is a full-time registered nurse who is employed by SCHHC and works at the Bandon School District. SCH Foundation raises funds to underwrite the position.
