Arts instruction (classes, workshops, residencies): Silambam conducts year-round classes in several Indian classical art forms - Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Carnatic and Hindustani vocal, violin, mridangam, tabla, sitar and nattuvangam - that follow a comprehensive and structured curriculum. In keeping with our non-profit mission to provide affordable arts education, we regularly implement need-based tuition waivers and discounts. Current enrollment is ~210. In addition, we reach hundreds of children each year in K-12 and community settings (such as libraries and museums) through our workshops and residencies.

Arts Performance (performances and Company productions): Our original Company productions explore both classical and non-traditional themes and formats. We reach thousands of audience members each year through our performances and Company productions. In addition to producing and presenting original arts programming, the Silambam Houston Dance Company also serves as a training ground for young professional dancers to gain proficiency in all aspects of stagecraft, including lighting, stage management, costuming, and choreography.

Arts Presentation (presenting visiting artists): From legendary exponents and established artists, to rising young stars in Indian classical arts, our mission is to provide a platform for the brilliant exponents and experimenters that keep these traditional art forms alive and evolving. Silambam also curates and presents the unique YUVA Festival, a collaborative performance platform for young and talented Indian classical artists (dance and music).
